Barry Electric was established in March 1956 when Paul and Norma Barry purchased Ward Electric Co., a longtime General Electric appliance and television dealer in Carrollton, Missouri, and the surrounding area of Carroll County.

The original store building was destroyed by fire on January 19, 1970, and eventually relocated to its present location at 114 South Main in Carrollton in March 1971.

In May 1993, son Randall and his wife, Piper Barry, returned to Carrollton to join the business as partners. Soon thereafter, the business became Barry Electric of Carrollton L.L.C.

The product line and services have remained relatively unchanged for more than 50 years. GE major and traffic (countertop) appliances, televisions, heating and air-conditioning products completed the line-up 50 years ago.

Today the product line is still anchored by GE major appliances and now is complemented with RCA televisions, ORECK vacuum sweepers and TRANE heating and cooling products. The devotion to these core product lines over this span of time results in Barry Electric's vast knowledge of service and performance issues for these items. An inventory of surplus and hard-to-find parts for GE appliances is also in stock.

Choosing to serve customers one at a time and focusing on quality service - rather than quantity sales - is another unique feature of our business. Our customers overwhelmingly prefer the personalized service and technical support of partnering with an independent retailer. The outstanding products we sell and the commitment we forge with our customers makes shopping at Barry Electric a superior choice to buying at impersonal, big-box stores.
